About us
Techniquest’s mission is to engage people with science and to motivate them to learn more. We provide a range of services to schools and teachers to complement the formal education provision in Wales and work extensively with public audiences.
Techniquest has a world-wide reputation for creating programmes and exhibits, and our staff includes leading experts in science communication. We develop and sell programmes and exhibits to science centres all over the world.
Techniquest offers interactive experiences that are accessible to all, and that have been enjoyed in its centre by over 4 million people since its inception in Cardiff in 1986.
What does Techniquest do?
Techniquest operates exhibitions, shows and programmes intended to make science accessible to people throughout Wales.
Our main site in Cardiff Bay is a top visitor attraction which provides a highly enjoyable experience for all ages. It has an exhibition, a science theatre, a planetarium and much more!
Visitors can also find a Techniquest ‘experience’ in Wrexham, at Techniquest Glyndwr.
Techniquest takes exhibitions and programmes to special events at many venues around Wales, from shopping centres to major cultural events such as the National Eisteddfod.
We also offer a comprehensive education programme for schools, plus further activities through schemes such as the Beacon for Wales, the Wales Gene Park, the Nuffield Bursary Scheme and mathcymru.
To provide this range of experiences, Techniquest maintains an active design and development arm, with excellent workshops and facilities. We also work with a range of partners and other experts, and this approach plays a very important part in delivering our mission. Partners include academics, scientists, industry and government, within Wales and internationally.
